I first attended Burning Man in 2015 when the theme was Carnival of Mirrors. I wanted a classic Ringmaster jacket with a twist. Back then almost no one had heard of flip sequins, and the cost of the fabric was ridiculously expensive.
I chose a classic women’s cut and used red-to-black flip sequins, thick silky lining, and a velvet collar. The response was overwhelming. The sequins provided a fun, interactive element to meet people, and it is still everyone’s favorite piece.
She has now been to five burns, and numerous other festivals. The color has worn off the edges of a few sequins, but she’s still going strong and, unbelievably, rarely sheds.
