What is the design process?
- First we’ll chat about what you need and when you need it.
- I’ll propose a budget and timeline, then request a deposit of half the project fee up front.
- I’ll create a vision board of the look and feel so you can tell me what you like.
- I’ll shop for materials, and will likely send you photos of several to choose from.
- I’ll send updates as I work, and may ask questions to help with design decisions.
- Depending on the piece, we may need to do a fitting before it’s finished to ensure it looks right.
- I’ll send you a photo of the completed garment and request the rest of the project fee.
- Once I receive full payment, I’ll ship the piece. I hope you’ll send me pictures of your adventures with it!
How much do custom pieces cost?
The budget for your piece is determined by the materials, labor hours, and deadline. All my pieces are handmade, so most are a minimum of $1,000, which requires a $500 deposit to get started.
Damn – I don’t have $1,000. Is there anyway I can get a custom piece cheaper?
I’m happy to consult on how you can modify and existing wardrobe item or shop for one that can be easily modified. This service is available for an hourly rate.
What other services do you offer?
I often create looks for theater productions, films, and performers. Most of this includes shopping for existing items and making modifications to fit the function.
Sequins and fake fur are MOOP. Why do you use them in your designs for Burners?
Matter is only out of place when it is found on the Playa. Most loss happens on the cut end of materials, so I enclose all edges. I use high quality materials to prevent shedding on the surface.
Do you curl your hair every day?
Ain’t nobody got time for that! I spritz my hair with essential oil-infused water every night and sleep with it in a sock bun on top of my head so it looks like it’s been in hot rollers.
